For IB, labs are termed internal assessments (IA). There are specific criteria which must be met as defined by IBO. This information has been given to the students in class. IA assignments are done throughout both junior and senior years. IA is part of the IB candidates overall "grade" for Biology HL. IA assignments toward the end of the students second year are sent for moderation across the globe. The IA assignments which are sent are chosen by IBO. IA assignments also receive a "AISD" grade. This grade is based on the student meeting the specific criteria required by IB and their instructor. All IA (Lab) assignments are to be typed and submitted electronically through Turnitin.com and a hard copy submitted to their instructor on or before the assignments due date. Please note IA submissions to be turned in on time and without late penalty must be submitted by 3PM including the hard copy - no exceptions. For this reason it is recommended IA assignments be submitted a day early so that any problems can be discussed with the instructor BEFORE the due date and time occur. All IB students have access to the internet and a computer either through the IB center, our school library and in their class room. Although all IB students have been provided space on the schools server to save their information, it is recommend the students invest in a "jump drive." All IB students have been given an account with Questia as long as they are enrolled in the IB Diploma program. This website is an on-line library which allows the students to set up project folders where they can save their information for later use.
